Acne Treatment Knock, Tuam, Sligo, Claremorris & Charlestown
We are the first and only clinic dedicated to the treatment of acne and results of scarring for men and women in the west of Ireland.
We offer the widest range of treatments available and our focus is on selecting the most appropriate treatment for you.
We treat severe acne to smaller breakouts. Mild acne can also be upsetting and might cause psychological disturbance, particularly to teenagers. Simple treatment can cure this. We recommend beginning treatment as soon as possible to reduce the risk of possibly permanent scarring and years of misery.
What is Acne?
Also known as: Acne rosacea, Acne vulgaris, Pimples.
Acne is a skin condition characterised by reddened, inflamed lesions (sometimes called pustules or whiteheads) on the face, neck, shoulders, and elsewhere. It occurs most commonly in teenagers and to a lesser extent in young adults. The condition results in part from excessive stimulation of the skin by androgens (male hormones). Bacterial infection of the skin also appears to play a role.
There are several treatments for Acne depending on the severity and sensitivity of the skin. We will determine the most suitable treatment during our consultation.
Scarring?
Scars from acne can seem like double punishment first you had to deal with the pimples, now you have marks as a reminder
A flat area of discoloration on the skin that is left behind after an injury has healed. It is part of the skin’s natural healing process. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) often results because of inflamed pimples, nodules, and/or cysts. PIH spots range in color from pink to red, purple, or brown. It can occur anywhere on the face or body.
There are several non surgical treatments available in our clinic. Scars don’t have to be permanent. We will determine the most suitable treatment during our consultation.
Acne Rosacea (The Celtic Curse)
Rosacea characteristically involves the central region of the face, causing persistent redness or transient flushing over the areas of the face and nose that normally blush – mainly the forehead, the chin, and the lower half of the nose. Rosacea is a harmless condition, but it may cause you to be self-conscious or embarrassed. The cause is not known.
Symptoms
- Redness of the face
